The Company has a widespread global proprietary distribution network spanning North America, Europe and Australia, with approximately 18,000 employees working from more than 350 locations in 21 countries. In 2007 the Company generated sales of EUR 5.6 billion.
Key challenge
Corporate Express decided to extend their Print & Forms management service with an online ordering tool for business printing e.g. business cards, (personalized) compliment cards, envelopes and letterheads.
“CE wants to cover all their customer supply needs related to an offices environment. This should include an integrated online ordering tool for business printed matter as the aim is to be the single source supplier for CE’s customers. These printed products need to be tailor made regarding corporate house style, actual lay-out and order quantity. The challenge was to design various workflows, integrate those within the existing business processes and ground them into the organization.”
Key solution
MultimediaBrains introduced Desk® CVi and adapted it to the specific requirements and customer needs. Desk® CVi interconnects CE’s system and that of their printing suppliers. Interfaces were build to connect to CE’s own e-Procurement solution and third party platforms. As a result the customers of Corporate Express can now easily order business print materials which are then automatically processed and printed. This ‘printing on demand’ concept doesn’t require any stock keeping, limits manual interference and ensures quick delivery.

Because of Desk® CVi, Corporate Express was able to expand their product range. Without extensive automation it would not be possible to offer tailor-made products in a cost effective way. The Communications Resource Planning (CRP) concept provided the solution for Corporate Express’ needs for an easy but effective tool to clearly structure and produce their customers communication materials. Where personalized printed matter used to be created per order this is now no longer necessary with the Desk® CVi solution. It provides a fully automatic digital workflow for the benefit of all.
