Libridis Groep
Libridis Groep is a wholesaler of books connecting a vast network of publishers and bookstores. They maintain close contact with suppliers (printers/publishers) and the shops in which their books are sold. They support more than 40.000 Dutch and 20.000 English books and supply a total of 1.1 million book titles.
Libridis Groep also intermediates between publishers and book wholesalers.
They make sure that bookstores get their books on time and deal with special requests from novelty stores, which complicates the business process.
Key challenge
Libridis Groep wanted to speed up their workflow and increase flexibility. For this they sought the assistance and expertise of MultimediaBrains.
“Libridis offers titles of suppliers as well as titles of their own. Therefore the maintenance of the title data should be possible by employees of Libridis as well as by third parties like suppliers.
This must be executed in a controlled transparent way and handled within one system. Moreover bookshop employees should be able to search for titles and order them easily. Compared to the prior situation they wanted much more flexibility, speed and a full connection to the back end systems.”
It became clear that Libridis’ previous Communication Resource Planning (CRP) process was not suitable anymore. There were so many people involved that it was often difficult to keep an overview of what had been done, needed to be done, and the status of the stocks and orders.
Key solution
MultimediaBrains designed an entirely integrated system (based on Desk®) in which the bookshop owners could easily search and order the books they needed. The system also allows the company itself, bookshops, and other parties to edit book and author data in a validated way so that the records are always up to date and users can easily find what they are looking for.
The system is interfaced with the registers at the book shops to provide them with stock information and enabling fully automated ordering. Where purchase orders are automatically transferred from the cash register of the book store to the back end system of Libridis. This means that the book store does not have to deal with a separate ordering procedure anymore.
Key advantage
Because Desk® ensures that there is no need for employee involvement regarding order forms and invoices, Libridis managed to save a lot of time and costs. In addition the fully automated system also reduces the chance of errors significantly.
Furthermore Desk® contributed to the flexibility of the client as store owners are now able to place orders 24 hours a day. Higher quality was ensured by the fact that multiple (authorized) parties were able to manage and maintain the data. Ensuring always up to date information, controlled by professionals.
